One Mistake After Another . . .Anand v. Carlsen (2.0 - 4.0)
Carlsen (4.0) v. Anand (2.0)
After Game 4 proved to be another uneventful draw, Anand's near perfect moves seemed to give one the impression that he will successfully defend his title. But disastrous end games in Game 5 and 6 suggests otherwise. Maybe fatigue? Maybe stress? Maybe too much esteem from Games 1 - 4? Anand fades in endgame.

"But then um . . . I don't know; one mistake after another and then it goes." says Anand.

2013 World Chess Championship
![]() |

| Magnus Carlsen |
In classical chess matches, Carlsen and Anand have played against one another 29 times with Anand winning six and Carlsen three. Twenty matches ended in draws. The 2013 World Championship is being held in Chennai, India providing Anand with a homefield advantage. Given their history, my money is Anand, however, I hope Magnus pulls this off as he is the higher rated player.
