Halloween Gambit Data

After showing students the gambit, showing a game that black lost, the chess.com video, students played and recorded their results.  Here are the results of our classes data gathering on the Halloween Gambit:

The gambit seeks to obtain an advantage in development and attacking chances.  As expected, black is able to successfully hold on and maintain the material advantage to the end.  Unless you are playing for fun, chances are against white and favor black and so avoid this opening in serious play.
