I would like to get information on this painting. Who is the artist?
ReplyDeleteHi there. I to have a copy of this painting. The original was painted in 1879
Deleteby Francesco Beda. It sold at Sothebys in 2004 for about 30,000 pounds. The original has the 5 ladies as your copy does. Some copies only have 1 man & 2 woman. These are often thought by some people to be the correct copy but I can
say with out a doubt the original had 5 woman & 1 man. You have a wonderful what looks like a super great copy & they can be worth anything from $300 to in the thousands. It's worth getting it checked out. Good luck :)
It was on ebay a long time ago and I don't have any information on it that I can find anymore. Sorry. Maybe someone else that reads this post might be able to help.
ReplyDeleteI have the same identicle painting even the frame. But mine looks its age loll. It says on back series#1 stamped chess players and a signiture
DeleteI saw this painting in a thrift store. Did not have the amount they were asking for on me. By the time I came back it was gone. I would like to know who the artist is too.
ReplyDeleteI think it called the Chess Game by Francisco Beda
