Integrating Chess Class Tournament

The round robin tournament continues with Andre Murphy the first to secure a position in the Chess Class Championship section followed by Emmett Say.  Winners of this section get extra credit, a medal, and a board signed by GM Alex Yermolinsky and FIDE Master Nick Raptis and bragging rights.  Today we popped popcorn to feed the chess players as they continued to quietly and respectfully play one another.  Tomorrow should be the last day to wrap up the group stages.  Anthony Flores is finished playing his games and is looking for help to reach the championship section in Group 5.  Group 5 is the only group without a clear outcome.  Wyatt, Jon, or Anthony could earn their way into the championship section.

Josh Crowther is the strongest contender in Group 1, but there are many games to play.  This group is absent a lot and I expect to be "freezing" their play after tomorrow so I can move the next stage along - school is out in only three weeks!  Keegan Crowson is dominating Group 2 with 3.5 pts.  In Group 3, Nash is hoping Emmett loses his two games to Mat'ka (from Slovakia), but Emmett is moving forward no matter what the outcome.  Mat'ka is looking for wins to improve her group placement in the next stage.  Andre Murphy (5 pts.) with one more game to play against Ryan Anderson has swept Group 4.  Ryan needed two wins against Andre to move up.  In Group 5, Anthony is hoping for at least one win for Jon against Wyatt, however Wyatt was playing strong games against Jon.  His first two games against Jon did not count because neither player recorded their game (one of the requirements of the class and the tournament).  The Championship section will be selected after tomorrow's class.
